Girasole (pronounced “jee-ra-sol-ay”) Vineyards Pinot Noir is made from certified organic grapes grown in the rolling benchlands of the Redwood Valley, CA appellation of Mendocino County. All of the grapes that go into their wines are estate grown, and hand-picked from family owned and operated vineyards that date back to the 1950′s. Certification requires that their grapes are grown without conventional pesticides or herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation. Very dark extraction for a pinot noir. Nose of cherry, pomegranate, raspberry, cola. Fruit delivers some juiciness in concert with drying tannin structure in the mouth. Great value for a California Pinot Noir! 84 points.
