Badia Coltibuono Chianti Classico 2007 is made from certified organic grapes from Chianti Classico in Tuscany, Italy. It is a beautiful, light-body style organic red wine made from Sangiovese, Tuscany’s signature red grape. Chianti Classico is a specific region within Chianti in Tuscany, Italy. While not a Riserva (which spend more time in oak, providing a richer, fuller bodied wine), this wine is representative of a classic Chianti red wine style. On the nose, one smells cherries, cherry tomato, with dry clay dust and herbal notes of bay leaf and oregano. In the mouth, it possesses the fascinating quality of being both juicy and mouth-watering yet dry. It is light-bodied with a touch of sweetness (or at least the fruit disguised as sweetness). It is high in acidity with solid structure for such a light wine – perfect for food! Start making some homemade red pasta sauce for this wine: fresh tomatoes, onion, mushroom, oregano, bay leaf . . let simmer all day till the smell of the sauce permeates throughout the house. Then crack open a bottle of this Badia Coltibuono Chianti Classico 2007 organic red wine from Tuscany, Italy. You will not be disappointed. Like a taking a trip to Italy. 90 points.
